August 31st
It is with regret that we have learned of the death of Eve Tuck the widow of our former president Mike Tuck and of Rochford Hundred RFC.  Details of the funeral arrangements will be posted on the web site when they are known.

August 27th
The County together with the RFU Facilities and Funding manager Rick Bruin are reviewing the County facilities strategy.  If your club has not notified the office of its planning and funding proposals then please contact the office and let us know so that they can be included in our schedule.  This includes any blue sky projects your club may have in mind.

August 23rd
Sam Cook formerly of Upminster RFC and now with Southend is selected to play for a combined London and Midlands U20's XV to play Leinster Academy in Dublin.  Despite the early morning (3am) start and torrential rain during the match the combined side put up a determined effort only to loose in the final quarter of the match when Leinster scored three breakaway tries to give them the flattering 29 - 9 win

August 21st
Second School of Rugby sessions took place at Felsted school.  The County was pleased to welcome Tim Grimsey of Colchester and Northampton Saints to take the Essex Front Row School through their paces with the RFU Coach Development Officer Tony Robinson.  Elsewhere there was a hive of activity with all age grades being put through their paces learning and developing their Rugby Skills with Essex coaches.  Also on hand was Saracens Oaklands Academy Manager Matt Davies to give his expert advice. .

August 20th
The RFU Welfare department are to run two "Safeguarding Young Persons in Rugby" courses in the County.  Details are shown in the county diary.  September 11th at Barking RFC.  You will need to book a place on this course .. details

August 16th
Referees, coaches and players came together at Dagenham RFC for the second ELV information session in the County.  Terry Hall, National Panel referee introduced the students to the ELV's  in an informative presentation outlining the main implications of the new experimental laws.  Following lunch the referees, coaches and players from Dagenham and Bancroft were put through their paces with 5x15 minute games allowing all the referees and "Assistant Referees" to take an active part in the sessions under the watchful and critical eyes of Essex Referees society trainer Dave Locke.  There are two more sessions left in the County - Tuesday 26th August at Woodford and Sunday 31st August at Westcliff. ...pictures
