Not the best of weekends for our top league clubs. Southend loose
to Cambridge 13 - 58, Barking suffer at the hands of National 3 league
leaders Ealing 55 - 0. Eton Manor, Westcliff and Woodford all
loose their matches in London Two North, whilst Chingford turn in a
workmanlike performance to beat Welwyn 3 - 58.
A 31-13 win
against Sudbury keeps Rochford on top of London 3 North East with Mesea
Island right behind after they beat Norwich 33-0. Wins also for
Brentwood, Braintree and Thurrock, with a draw for Chelmsford 12 all
against Saffron Waldon.
In London 4
North East - Colchester send out a message that they are on their way
back with 56 - 3 win over Billericay. Canvey Island also have a try rout
as then beat Crusaders 46 - 7. Dagenham extract a 34 - 15 win over
South Woodham Ferrers whilst Upminster were also in a winning mood
beating their Essex Colleagues Basildon 38 - 27.

President Gerry Mansfield confirms the first President's Vets XV match
against Braintree RFC Vets. If you would like to be part of the

15th
Following on from the RFU Rugby Landscape Survey and Stakeholders Forum,
there will be a presentation of the findings and proposals at Old
Albanians RFC on Monday 22nd September. 6.30pm for 7pm. The
stakeholders Forum has produced several ideas for the future structure
of our leagues and opportunities for Cup Rugby. To hear the
details and discuss the results, come along to the Roadshow.

Southend stun Blackheath and come away with a superb 15 - 39 Victory.
Four tries by Dings Crusaders sink Barking's hopes of bringing any
points back from the South West. Newly promoted Westcliff make a
statement of their intentions in their first match in London 2 by
beating Letchworth 8 - 25, Elsewhere in two north Woodford. Eton
Manor and Chingford all go down fighting in this very tough league.
In front of
the Essex President Gerry Mansfield, Dagenham win their first match in
London four north east in an eagerly contested match 19 - 15 against
Norwich Crusaders. Following the match Club Chairman Mark Randall
was presented with a Very Valued Volunteer award and certificate in
recognition of his services to Dagenham RFC and grass roots rugby.

This Saturday the 6th September - Southend take on Launceston at Warners
Bridge whilst Barking entertain Henley. Both Kick off at 3pm
admission charges apply. Several of our clubs are also involved in
the early rounds of the RFU EDF Senior Vase and Junior Vase.
Basildon v Hastings & Bexhill, Canvey Island v Whitstable, Dagenham v
Charlton Park, Billericay are AWAY to Folkestone, South Woodham Ferrers
v Tonbridge Juddians, Upminster v Becchamians, and Colchester are away
to Barnet Elizabethians:
In the
Junior Vase, Brightlingsea v Borehamwood, Witham are AWAY to Old
Tottonians, Ongar v Pinner & Gramerians, Phantoms v Ravens. If
your not doing anything this weekend I'm sure our clubs would welcome
some support.

made available to help fund an additional Community Rugby Coach for

The RFU Disciplinary
Officer has directed a “zero tolerance” stance in regard to dangerous
play at the ruck and maul. Essex Referees Society will be
discussing its implications at their monthly meeting tonight at the
Cherry Tree PH Brentwood. To download the IRB directive and

Michael Stanley (Thurrock, Saracens Academy and Southend ) is named in
the England U20's squad. Our congratulations to him on achieving
this success. Also involved with the England U20's is the new Southend
coach, Mark Mapletoft.
