Introduction page for the Essex Competitions

Essex County Rugby Football Union hold a number of competitions throughout the year. By using the links on the left hand side of this page you will be able to navigate your way through our results and draws for the latest details.
Our competitions for this season will be at three levels:

Essex Senior Cup - Top eight clubs by league position.
Essex Intermediate Cup - Next 16 Clubs by league position which are not in the senior cup competition
Essex Presidents Shield - All other league and SATURDAY non league clubs in membership of Essex County RFU who do not participate in another County CB's competition

COMPETITION DATES 2006/7

YOUTH

U14

LEAGUE – dates to be confirmed by the League Secretary - Peter Rains.

Clubs which have confirmed their wish to compete in the league;

CUP – 29^th October, 3^rd December, 4^th March, 25^th March.

U15

CUP – 15^th October, 19^th November, 4^th February, 25^th March.

U16

CUP – 24^th September, 5^th November, 18^th March, 22^nd April.

U17

LEAGUE – 24^th September, 15^th October, 12^th November, 10^th December, 21^st January, 11^th February, Top four clubs will be nominated as the Essex clubs in the National competition which starts on 25^th February.

CUP – 22^nd October, 26^th November, 14^th January, 18^th February.

U19 – No dates arranged as yet. Information still awaited as regards to the U20 programme.

U14 and U17 Leagues. Some other clubs did earlier express interest in leagues at these levels. If your club wishes to enter teams please send a letter, on club headed notepaper to Tony Guest within the next few days to confirm your interest.

ADULT

Please note that these competitions are SATURDAY events (except for the finals). Games may be played on Sundays only if both clubs agree. Games may be played midweek under floodlights if both teams agree.

However, the Competitions Committee will be minded to support clubs wishing to avoid playing on England International dates.

You will be encouraged to play games earlier than the given dates as this will help prevent fixture congestion if league games are postponed. The competition organiser will insist that this takes place in certain circumstances. Please be flexible.

SENIOR CUP

20^th January, 10^th February, Sunday 11^th March.

INTERMEDIATE CUP

2^nd September, 9^th December, 20^th Jan, Sunday 25^th March.

PRESIDENT’S SHIELD

9^th September (prelim, will involve a few clubs only), 9^th December, 10^th February, 24^th March, Sunday 22^nd April.

SECOND XV CUPS

Senior 2^nd XV & Junior 2^nd XV (John Adler Trophy)

Games may only be played when club first XVs have League or Cup games. Essex 2 & 3 clubs please check your league fixtures before you confirm a 2^nd XV Cup game with the opposition.

The finals will be held on Saturdays at the ground of the winners of the first drawn semi-finals.

14^th October, 2^nd December, 13^th Jan,

Senior Final - 17^th February.

Junior Final – 3^rd March.
