A Mothers day with a difference as 480 children took part in the Essex County RFU Mini Midi Festival at Eton Manor RFC on Sunday 6th March 2005. Despite the threat of cold blustery weather the festival took place in fine intermittent weather. With a great deal of mums and dads present who took full advantage of the facilities offered by Eton Manor and their burger bar, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves with many excellent matches showing the true potential of Essex players for the future. There was particular friendly rivalry in all three finals as Upminster and Westcliff battled it out between them at all three age groups with Upminster winning the U7's and 8's but a draw could not separate them at U9's. The shields, trophies and medals were presented by Essex president Mike Norris and CBRDP Chairman Peter Howard. Essex Mini Midi Chairman Andy Thorne and Assistant Manager Dean Martin thanks all those present for an excellent days rugby and gave a vote of thanks to the officials of Eton Manor for their dedication and hard work in organising the days events. Next Sunday, the Mini Midi Festival roadshow moves to Westcliff where it is the turn of the U10, U11, and 12's to take part in their age group festival. |
