Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Rugby Course
The Community Rugby Department are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in rugby course. It is a three hour course for any member of staff or volunteer who is working with or has responsibility for children and young people (players under the age of 18 years) within rugby from club to international level, for example:
Professional Staff All Coaches/Assistant Coaches Heads of mini/Midi rugby sections Heads of Youth Rugby sections Team Managers All referees who manage mini/midi and youth games Club Welfare Officers Physiotherapists Club Administrators CB Volunteers with responsibility for young people and Volunteers and staff within schools and education
The course is run by trained RFU welfare tutors and can take place in the evenings or at the weekend at your local rugby club.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to –
Identify best practice within Rugby Identify signs and indicators of possible abuse and poor practice State action to take if there is a concern or disclosure Know where to find support within the RFU Recognise their role in safeguarding and protecting young people within rugby The participants will receive the workshop resource and a certificate of attendance
