BYE-LAWS OF THE ESSEX COUNTY SCHOOLS RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION

The name of this Union shall be "The Essex County Schools Rugby Football Union"

The object of this Union shall be the promotion of the game of Rugby Football in Essex as regulated by the Laws of the Rugby Football Union

Membership shall be open top all schools in Essex affiliated to the Eastern Counties Schools Rugby Football Union

Any boy attending an affiliated Essex school, of any boy attending a school outside Essex affiliated to the E.R.F.S.U. provided the boy was born in or is resident in Essex, shall be qualified to play for this Union, provided further that he has not left school before the last day of the term immediately proceeding holiday games.

The officers of this Union shall consist of a Chairman (who shall be the President of the Essex County Rugby Football Union), Vice Chairman, Honorary Secretary, and Honorary Treasurer who shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

The committee of this union shall consist of:

  1. The Officers

  2. One representative for the 15 Group

  3. Two representatives for the 16 Group

  4. Two representatives for the 18 Group

  5. Three representatives nominated by the Essex County RFU

  6. One representative from each of the four areas within the County

(b), (c) and (d) to be elected annually at the AGM. Nominations together with the names of the proposer and seconder to be sent to the hon. Sec by 30th April.

The management of this Union shall be vested in the Officers and Committee who shall have sole power of arranging matches, the selection of teams to represent this Union, of filling casual vacancies amongst officers and Committee, of augmenting itself by co-opting additional members, of appointing sub-committees for any purpose and of administering the finances of the Union.

The Committee shall have the power to elect honorary life members in recognition of outstanding service to the Union

An honorary Auditor shall be appointed by the AGM

The Annual General Meeting of this union shall be held in may or June.  one representative from each School may attend with voting powers.  The Chairman to have the casting vote.
